Our principal modes of treatment used is :-
Medication Therapy [ Detoxification ] : It is the process of allowing the body to ‘clean’ itself of a Drug while managing the symptoms of withdrawal. During the initial period without Drugs, a long-term drugs user is likely to experience a number of “withdrawal symptoms.” This is because functioning of the body and brain needs time to readjust to normalcy without the Drug. This adjustment-period can lead to various withdrawal symptoms. Physical symptoms of DRUG withdrawal may include restlessness and insomnia. Psychological symptoms of withdrawal may include impaired mood and anxiety. Symptoms of Alcohol withdrawal may include trembling, sweating and craving for Alcohol. In more severe cases, Delirium Tremens, i.e. marked tremor (the shakes) and delirium (confusion, a state of agitation and auditory and visual hallucinations) occur. |
Drug Detox is the first step in a recovery program and should be followed by treatment that looks at changing patient’s behavior and cognitive function. DRUG Detox alone is not full treatment. Necessity of Medical Detox depends primarily upon a person’s age, duration of abuse, quality & quantity of drugs abused, Medical condition, and history of other treatments.
Because Addiction is a primary illness, it has symptoms which existed before people start using Drugs or Alcohol. Those symptoms (restlessness, anxiety, low self-esteem, agitation) still persist even after the patient at risk of Relapse Therefore new ‘recovery’ skills need to be used after Detoxification via rehab ,CBT, 12 Steps or other methods. |
Rehab (Living and learning experience):-The “Rehab center” is the next stage after completing Detox and primary treatment. It is a natural progression and an opportunity to learn in the community discipline. This is a most important part of treatment. An addict quits drug/alcohol many times but cant stay in recovery for a long time. He relapses due to the weakness in his attitudes and feelings problem. Detoxification recovers only his physical dependency over drugs. Psychological dependency is still to cope with. In rehab patients are put in a learning and living experience. Whole day is organized by specific time table and specific portfolios. Through behavioral therapies and sessions they have to pass through daily learning and living experience. Patients goes through their daily inventory and know the actual attitudes and feelings problem in them. In this part the senior patients help juniors in diagnosing and releasing their problems

Rehab different therapies are used as per specific patient as follows:-
Then they learn to change their distorted thinking. When they think more realistically, they feel better. The emphasis is also consistently on solving problems and initiating behavioral change. |
CBT is a highly personalized approach tailored to the individual’s specific Addiction Treatment needs. In Addiction, patients learn specific skills that they can use for the rest of their lives. These skills involve identifying distorted thinking, modifying beliefs, relating to other in different ways, and changing their own behavior. CBT helps individuals replace “maladaptive adjustment skills, cognitions, emotions and behaviors with more adaptive ones”, by challenging his way of thinking and the way that he reacts to certain habits or behaviors. Recent variants emphasize changes in one’s relationship to maladaptive thinking rather than changes in thinking itself. Therapists use CBT techniques to help patients to challenge and replace their “errors in thinking such as over-generalizing, magnifying negatives, minimizing positives and catastrophizing” with more realistic and effective thoughts. This decreases emotional distress and self-defeating behavior. CBT also helps to take a more open, mindful, and aware posture toward the thinking errors so as to diminish their impact.
